Sodium Formate

Sodium formate is a white crystalline powder, slightly hygroscopic, with a slight formic acid smell, soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether, specific gravity 1.919, melting point 253ºC, delix in the air, chemical stability.

Application:
Mainly used in the production of formic acid, oxalic acid and insurance powder and other uses for the determination of phosphorus and arsenic reagents, disinfectants and mordant use of preservatives.
It has a diuretic effect. It is allowed in EEC countries, but not in the UK.
It is used for the production of formic acid and oxalic acid intermediates, and is also used for the production of dimethylformamide. Also used in medicine, printing and dyeing industry. It's also a precipitator for heavy metals.
