Preparation method: nitrated from benzoic acid.Add sulfuric acid to a dry reaction pot and stir into benzoic acid.Heat it to 60ºC, add fuming nitric acid, add it below 85ºC.Reaction at 80-85ºC for 1h, 100ºC for 0.5-1h, and then rise to 135ºC for 2h.Leave overnight. The reaction solution was put into ice water to crystallize, and then washed with water and then washed with 50% ethanol to get 3, 5-dinitrobenzoic acid.Yield of 70%.
Melting point 207 ~ 208ºC.Boiling point 300 ~ 303ºC(sublimation).Evaporate with steam.Slightly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol, easily soluble in benzene, ethyl acetate and chloroform. Can be nitrated from benzoic acid.Used as raw material and analytical reagent for organic synthesis. For example, it is used to identify aliphatic ether, ester and aromatic amine
